Madam Speaker, 500 Canadian steelworkers at Stelco are being thrown out of work by a U.S. corporation and its Trump-supporting CEO. Cleveland-Cliffs violated the commitments it made as a condition of this foreign takeover. This is a MAGA-driven attempt to deindustrialize Canada by stripping away our manufacturing capacity and jobs. Steel is a strategic industry. It underpins our economy, our sovereignty and our national security. The future of Canadian steel must be decided in Canada. Will the Liberal government stand up for Canadian workers and secure this vital—

Madam Speaker, we have been very clear that this is a betrayal of the workers and a betrayal of the commitments that were made when that company was acquired. We have been very clear. The Minister of Industry has written a letter insisting that within five business days, the company come back with a plan to make sure all unionized workers, as promised, have jobs in Canada. That deadline is coming up early next week. We look forward to hearing back from the company.
