“Home invasions in Toronto are up 32 percent this year, and a recent one left three people shot. The government's bail and sentencing bill fails to fix this because it still lets accused criminals out too easily and cuts mandatory minimum sentences. I want the Attorney General to admit this failure and work with Conservatives on real bail and sentencing reform.”
“Mr. Speaker, Toronto was horrified by the Bridle Path home invasion in which a father and two daughters were shot and a mother injured. This was the 119th invasion in Toronto this year. That is a 32% increase from the same period in 2025. It is clear that the Liberal government’s bail and sentencing reform is a failure. The bail principle of restraint, to let an accused out at the earliest opportunity, remains. Conservatives wanted mandatory minimum sentences for armed home invasions. Instead the Liberals gutted all mandatory minimum sentences. Will the Attorney General own his failure and work with Conservatives to pass real bail and sentencing reform?”
