Points of Order

This section of Oral Questions consisted of points of order rather than a bill or motion debate. Elizabeth May asked to repeat the first part of her question, saying her microphone had been off, and then asked when the government will protect children from artificial intelligence, citing families in Tumbler Ridge involved in a court case. Parliamentary secretary Adam van Koeverden said the government’s thoughts were with the families and that it is working with AI companies and advancing protective legislation. Dominique O’Rourke raised a point of order alleging the member for Drummond had used unparliamentary language and asking him to withdraw the comments and apologize; Martin Champoux said he did not recall saying anything unparliamentary and asked that the remark be clarified before deciding whether an apology was needed.Written by AI from the debate. “The member for Drummond used improper language earlier today. I want him to take back what he said and apologize to the House.”

Mr. Speaker, I rise on a point of order. Around 2:30 p.m., the member for Drummond used unparliamentary language, and several of us heard him. We call on him to withdraw his comments and apologize to the House.
