The Economy

During Question Period on the economy, the Conservatives said the government’s claims about affordability do not match people’s experiences, citing high food bank use and constituents struggling to afford basics, and said the Prime Minister’s description of affordability is not accurate. The Liberals responded that no parent should have to sell belongings to feed a child, and said the questioning member had voted against government measures aimed at helping families, including school food programs, child benefits, job training, and grocery support.Written by AI from the debate. Mr. Speaker, for a year and a half those arrogant Liberals have been standing in the House and telling us how great everything is. The Prime Minister says affordability is the best it has been in a decade. She is selling her belongings on Facebook Marketplace so that she can buy her daughter shoes. Are the numbers wrong or are the Liberals?

Patty Hajdu, Minister of Jobs and Families and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Northern Ontario

Liberal
“No mother in Canada should have to sell her belongings to feed her child. The member criticizing us voted against every government plan to help people like her, including school food, child benefits, job training, and grocery help.”
