Climate Change

In question period, the Bloc Québécois criticized the Prime Minister’s climate record, saying Liberal MPs are afraid to speak out about it and noting that 300 mayors have called on him to prioritize fighting climate change over the oil sector. Liberal ministers replied that they are working well together as a team, pointing to results such as a doubling of electric vehicle sales through rebate programs and investments in public transit, cleaner aluminum, and greener travel in Quebec.Written by AI from the debate. Mr. Speaker, I am very surprised by my kind colleague’s question. I will share my humble experience as Secretary of State for Nature. I was not yelled at. I did not have to make a big scene. We worked, consulted and talked. I have plenty of colleagues here who worked with me, since this is all very new to me. We are able to work together, debate and move forward, and we are doing this to protect nature and develop our country within a united Canada.

“We are working hard to fight climate change, and it is working. Electric vehicle sales have more than doubled because of our rebates. We are also funding public transit, cleaner aluminum, and greener travel in Quebec. The opposition is against all of this.”

Mr. Speaker, we are working well together as a team. We are working hard to fight climate change and we are already seeing results. The sale of electric vehicles has more than doubled thanks to the EV rebate. We are now making investments in public transit in Quebec. We are making investments in Quebec aluminum to make it greener and create jobs. We are investing in Alto for faster and greener transportation. They are against all that. We are doing the work and we are doing it together.
