Kevin Lamoureux, Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader of the Government in the House of Commons
“I am asking the House to agree to sit until midnight on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. We will use that extra time only to debate this online safety bill.”
“Mr. Speaker, there have been discussions among the parties, and if you seek it, I think you will find unanimous consent for the following motion. I move: That, notwithstanding any standing order or usual practice of the House, on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, following Private Members’ Business, the House shall continue to sit until midnight for the sole purpose of debating Bill C-34, An Act to enact the Digital Safety Act and the Digital Safety Commission of Canada Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts, provided that, during the proceedings on the said bill, no quorum calls, dilatory motions or requests for unanimous consent shall be received by the Chair, except for a unanimous consent motion to see the clock.”
