Oliphant sticks closely to Liberal talking points, rarely straying from cautious, positive phrasing. He often brings up his own riding of Don Valley West, praising local organizations and constituents, sometimes only loosely tying it to the issue at hand. When pressed on difficult international matters, he tends to give general assurances that Canada is working on it and supports good things, without venturing into specifics or firm positions that could draw controversy.

“I want to remind everyone that ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is very bad. It makes life very hard for the people who have it. But scientists and doctors are working hard to help them. Sunnybrook hospital in my riding is doing a good job. The ALS Society has been helping for a long time. I want to cheer for the brave patients and their families.”

“Canada wants Iran and the U.S. to reach an agreement. We're working with other countries to reduce tensions and make sure ships can pass safely through the Strait of Hormuz. Canada will help, but only with some specific things like getting rid of mines and satellite pictures. We want Iran to stop causing trouble with nuclear weapons and supporting terrorism. Israel and Hezbollah need to stop fighting too. It's bad that people are losing their homes and livelihoods. We need to talk and have goodwill to really solve this. We're on the side of international law.”
