Steel and Aluminum Industry

Question period exchanges on the steel and aluminum industry, focused on US tariffs affecting Quebec metal processors. A Liberal member asked how the government is supporting manufacturers affected by what she called unjustified American tariffs, citing a recently announced $1.5 billion regional support package. The government reply, also from a Liberal member, said US tariffs are hurting Canadian aluminum processors and pointed to over $20 million already given to Quebec aluminum businesses under a $500 million industry support plan.Written by AI from the debate.
