“Honda has been making cars in my riding for 40 years. Its plant employs over 4,000 people and supports 30,000 more jobs across Canada. I am congratulating Honda and its workers on this anniversary.”
“Mr. Speaker, they say, “You meet the nicest people [in] a Honda.” As the MP for York—South Simcoe, the proud home of Honda Canada, I can say that the people who build Hondas are every bit as nice too. Next week, Honda celebrates 40 years of continuous car-making excellence in Canada since its plant first opened in Alliston, Ontario, on November 3, 1986. Today, it produces the Honda Civic, the Canadian car of the year. More than 4,000 Canadians work there, and it supports 30,000 more jobs across the sector. From the associates on the line to the suppliers and dealers who put Canadians behind the wheel, every one of them has helped build this legacy. Canadian manufacturing succeeds when we stand behind it. To everyone at Honda, I wish a happy 40th and all the best, as it keeps the power of dreams driving themselves forward.”
