“I want to compliment myself and a Bloc member for our good work. Our parties moved an amendment that would change 'reasonable grounds to suspect' to 'reasonable grounds to believe'. The Liberals didn't support it. I'd like the member to explain the Liberals' objection to our amendment.”

“I want my party to look good. I will say that this bill is very bad. It was too big before and people said bad things about it. People have brought changes to the bill. My party brought changes too. The government didn't listen to the right people or think about it enough. The bill gives too much spying power. Companies have to keep data logs of everyone. A government person can say they want to see those logs. No one else gets to look at this or argue about it first. This weakens everyone's privacy. It makes Canadians less safe. It is not the Canadian way. People could use this to hurt people or take things from them. This bill needs many big changes. It's too rushed. It's too dangerous. The government should take more time. Do it the right way.”

“I want the government to take amendments from all parties. I think only listening to their own party is wrong.”

“The government should listen to the Privacy Commissioner. I wrote to them about this bill. The Liberals are ignoring real questions. They wouldn't split the bill like the Conservatives asked. Filibustering is a way to send the government a message when they steamroll us.”

“I'm a New Democrat. I don't usually agree with the Conservatives. But this time I agree with them. Also the Greens and the Bloc. That sends a strong message. The government got it wrong. Some companies told me they would leave Canada if this bill passes. It would put their privacy protection at risk. It would create a liability. If there's a breach, those companies would be liable. We can't undo that later. That's why we can't rush this bill through.”

“I don't like how this government is passing bills. They aren't listening to people. They are skipping important steps. That's bad. I've been in government a long time and I've never seen anything like it. This government is too bossy. They are not being fair. They only have power because some people switched teams.”
