Privilege

Bill C-31, Budget 2025 Implementation Act, No. 2 · Question of privilege · now at report stage in the House Where it stands

A question of privilege raised by the Bloc Québécois concerning members’ right to see legislation before others. The member argued that Air Canada announced a new air travel complaint process before the House saw the bill containing that change, and that past Speaker’s rulings treat even the appearance of premature third-party access as a prima facie breach of privilege. He asked the Speaker to find a prima facie breach so the matter could go to committee. The government said it would respond to the question at a later sitting, and the Conservatives said they would consider it and reserved the right to speak later.Written by AI from the debate.
