ROUTINE PROCEEDINGS

ROUTINE PROCEEDINGS

A routine proceeding where the Standing Committee on Natural Resources presented a report on critical minerals development. The Liberal member highlighted the report while the Conservative member complained the Liberals had wasted 10 years and called for repealing the Impact Assessment Act to speed up approvals.

“I don't like what the committee's report said. I'm presenting a different report to say what I think instead. I want the Impact Assessment Act gone. It takes too long to approve things. Cut the red tape and paperwork. Respect what provinces want. Projects are being cancelled because it takes so long to get permits. Hurry up the projects that are waiting now. Don't make them wait any longer. The Major Projects Office won't help. It will still be a bottleneck. That's why we need the changes in our report.”
